Plans Advancing For Health FairPublished Wednesday, June 28, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneJanet McAdams and Jon Chadwell, coordinators of this year's Health Fair, which is set for September 9, reported at the June 13 meeting of the group that response from participants has been very good. Some of the highlights of the fair will be photo ID cards for children with fingerprints on them in a passport type book. Nevada County Sheriff's office and Firestone are working cooperatively on this project. Nevada County Health Department has the books available for processing and distribution. A new participant this year will be United Blood Services out of Texarkana. That organization will be doing blood typing and hematacrits for those who do not know their blood type. There will be children's activities and indoor refreshments available for participants who should be fasting before their health screens for accurate results. Approximately 400 people attended the 1999 health fair. Health Alliance members are working closely with McAdams and Chadwell to help make this year's Health Fair an even bigger success. The next meeting for the group will be July 11 at the Broadway Coffee Shop at 7 a.m. Anyone wishing to attend is invited. The Alliance welcomes any new ideas as it continues to plan and work for the 2000 Health Fair. T-shirts for participants will be ordered at this meeting.
