15 Graduate From Emmet High

Published Wednesday, May 26, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune

Fifteen graduates, including a foreign student from Mexico, received their diplomas Friday night at Emmet high School.

The keynote speaker was Tim Chambless, who graduated from Emmet 22 years ago. He is now a sales representative of Jostens Printing and Publishing Company. Jostens is a yearbook printer.

Chambless stressed relationship to the graduating class of 1999, saying, "Relationship, seniors, relationship."

He praised the administration at the school and said it was through their relationship that Emmet School still existed. "Look at the relationship of Frank Henson (high school principal), Dr. Gene Ross (superintendent) and Floyd Pollock (elementary principal). It's their dedication to this school that kept it open."

Chambless told the senior class, they've had a strong relationship with each other for 13 years. He challenged them to continue the relationship.

He told them their most important relationship is with God, and they must be an encouragement to others. With God in your life you will be that way, he said.

Chambless also encouraged them to have a common goal, giving the illustration of hunters working together to get their game.

Finally he told them by graduating they were all winners.

To bond the class more, Chambless distributed different pieces of a croquet set to the graduates. He asked that they bring their respective pieces to their first reunion, whether it be in five years, or in 20.

Linda Stephens, the valedictorian, and Rachel Elliott, salutatorian, both addressed their classmates.

Henson handed out the various honors to the seniors earning them.

In addition to Stephens and Elliott, other graduates were Regina Brown, Ashley Gardner, Tambra Tipton, Jennifer Lively, Jacqueline Cox, Jeremy Heath, Don Mitchell, Rogelio Valdez, Lisa Hawthorne, shawn Goodson, Jeremy Taylor, Michael Hickman and Marcus Smith.

Ushers were Rebbecca Pate and Chad Adamson.
