Bobby Young and family were on vacation. Rev. Box really stirred things up. His text was Closed in to God.' He really is a good speaker and a good man. He is also the mayor of Chidester. We are really losing our school reunion people. Gertrude Thorns Douglas' funeral was Friday at Hope. Her parents were Lee and Lennie Thorns. She was a member of Beebe Memorial CME Church. Services were under the direction of Hicks Funeral Home of Hope. She was a resident of the Mt. Vernon community. We are getting plenty of rain and the grass is really growing. We have to mow more every week. Freddie and his wife visited me Saturday. Some of my family checks on me every week. Mrs. Lourice Burke is moving in the house with her father. She has been taking care of two houses. She is renting her house out now. St. John day program with Golden Crown #411 as guest church and choir from Rosston was held Sunday, June 18. Rev. L. Banks Young was master of ceremonies and gave the message. Bro. Milton Lowe visited me Saturday, along with Nellie Rogers, Bell Rogers, Willie Rogers and Nellie's daughter and her boyfriend from Chicago, Ill.
