John H. Cannon

BRAZZEL-OAKCREST FUNERAL HOME of HOPE

John H. Cannon, 76 of Hope, died Friday, June 16, 2000 at his home.

Mr. Cannon was born November 9, 1923 in McNab to William Manton and Eva Ada Raley Cannon. He was a minister and member of Hope Church of Christ. He graduated from Harding College with a BA in Bible in 1946. John was a gospel preacher whose messages rang with book, chapter and verse quotations. He was a servant among men. He lived what he preached.

Survivors include, his wife (of 55 years) Christine Edwards Cannon of Hope; three sons and daughter-in-laws, Dr. John H. Cannon, Jr. and Linda of Texarkana, Texas, Hershel Ray Cannon of Little Rock and Charles Manton Cannon and Mitzie of Searcy; two sisters Mozelle Brown of Ashdown, formerly of Hope and Ida Mae Porterfield of Ashdown; four grandchildren, Dr. John Cannon, III (Jay) and Laura of Ardmore, Okla., Patrick and Kari Ann Cannon of Texarkana, Texas and Sean Cannon of Searcy; three great grandchildren, Jonathan David Cannon, Bailey Michele Cannon and Samuel Patrick Cannon.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 19 at Hope Church of Christ with Dr. John H. Cannon, Jr., Dr. John H. Cannon, III, and Charles Cannon officiating. Burial followed in the Saratoga Cemetery in Saratoga under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.
