Events Laid Out For McRae School Reunion

The speaker for the McRae School reunion morning worship service will be Rev. Ivory Curry, pastor of Carrie Street Church of God in Gurdon. He is also youth minister of Macedonia Baptist Church in Boughton.

Mr. Curry is a 1970 graduate of Prescott High School. He attended Red River Seminary in Arkadelphia. He is first vice president of the Prescott Lions Club, a member of Ila Upchurch board and he is a Boys to Men/Girls to Women mentor.

He has been employed at Firestone Building Products in Prescott as a production supervisor in the calendar department for 29 years. He is president of the Firestone Prescott Community Fund.

Curry is married to Kay Curry of Prescott. They have four children, Carlos, Natasha, Vincente and Latia.

The millennium 2000 McRae School reunion morning worship service will be Sunday, July 2, at 11 a.m. in the Prescott High School auditorium.

The morning worship service will include the McRae reunion choir. Prayer will be led by Rev. Vernon Livingston; scripture reading by Rev. Herbert E. Adams, pastor of New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church; McRae reunion choir; Patricia Johnson Roberts, occasion; memorial by Maxine Mitchell Green; song by Evening Stars gospel singers; introduction of messenger by Rev. Wallace Ingram, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Rockford, Ill., the Word of God by Rev. Curry; the call to discipleship by Rev. Harold L. Box, pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist church of Scott; song by McRae reunion choir; an appeal by Elaine Murphy Williams; offering by the ushers; announcements by Doris Blake Pearson; introduction of reunion committee by Verion Redic Adams; and it will conclude with the singing of the McRae alma mater with Professor Charles Miller at the piano. The benediction will be by Curry.

Wade Vanhook will be master of ceremonies. Ushers will be Mary Dell Hopson Spearman, John L. Block, Robert Malone, Bobbie Jean George, Leo Meeks Jr. and Homer Hopson.

Opening session will be Saturday, July 1, at 10 a.m. at the McRae Middle School.

The schedule of events will include Professor Miller at the piano, playing the McRae alma mater; prayer and scripture by Rev. Daniels Flemons; music by McRae reunion choir; welcome to the city of Prescott by Mayor Howard Taylor; welcome to the city of Hope by Mayor Dennis Ramsey; a solo by Betty Royston McClanahan; greetings and introduction of Prescott School board by superintendent Ron Wright; special introduction of McRae descendants by Johnny Hamilton Jr.; greetings from Prescott/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce by Mary Godwin, manager; roll call of classes by Allene Ragland Sims and Mary Willingham Flenory; statement of appreciation by Lula Purifoy Howard; recognition of past teachers by Shelton Walters; solo by Regina Moreland Tanner; registration report will be given by Patricia Blake; introduction of reunion committee by Verion Redic Adams; announcements by Gladys Jefferson Kirby; and the McRae alma mater will be sung again. The benediction will be given by Rev. Daniel Flemons.

Herbert and Verion Adams will be master and mistress of ceremonies.

The banquet will be held Monday, July 3, at 7 p.m. at the McRae Middle School.

The schedule is as follows: invocation will be by Rev. Cletis Stuart of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, Ill.; dinner will be served; entertainment by Charles Miller and Vernon Meeks; awards by Gladys Jefferson Kirby; recognition of veterans by Finis Purifoy; memories through the years by Dr. Joseph A. Hale, former McRae School Principal; song by McRae reunion choir, McRae Hall of Fame induction by Olen Johnson Jr.; praise dance by Generation Next; fashions 2000 by Lyndia Giles Washington; announcements by Murrel Johnson; with the singing once more of the McRae alma mater closing the banquet. The benediction will be given by Rev. Stuart.

Toastmaster will be Willie A. Wilson.
