Tarpley To Attend AEGIS At Lyon CollegePublished Wednesday, June 21, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesJohn Tarpley, a student at Gurdon High School, has been accepted in the Lyon College Academic Enrichment for the Gifted in Summer (AEGIS) program Shakespeare Page to Stage. It is a residential program hosted by the college July 16 through Aug. 5. The program director is Dr. Michael L. Counts, associate professor and director of theater at Lyon College. The students will study the plays of William Shakespeare, the music of the Elizabethan period, classical design and Shakespearean acting. They will rehearse selected scenes, design and hang lighting, design and build sets, design and make costumes and present a final performance.
