Mildred Weir ThompsonMOORE'S CHAPEL of FAYETTEVILLEPublished Wednesday, June 21, 2000 in the Gurdon Times Mildred Weir Thompson, 84, of Fayetteville died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Washington Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Thompson was born August 6, 1915, in the Mount Comfort Community, the daughter of Thomas Earl Weir. and Rachel Mae Lester Weir. Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker and a registered nurse. She received a bachelor of science in home economics from the University of Arkansas in 1937. She taught home economics in Ola and Crawfordsville. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Albert W. Thompson. She is survived by a son, Donald Albert Thompson of Arlington, Texas; two daughters, Suzanne Thompson-Gates of Kingwood, Texas, and Leslie Thompson-Henson of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two sisters, Maellen Weir-Epperson of Chidester, and Wilma Weir-Van Dusen of Madison, Wisc.; one brother, Lynn Weir of Russellville; four grandchildren, Brad Gates and his wife Susan, Amy Gates-Kalp and her husband Trent, Rachel Keeling and Mary Keeling; and two great great grandchildren, Katie Gates and Emily Kalp. A memorial service was held in the Butterfield Trail Village convocation room Friday, June 16. A private burial was in Mount Comfort Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Second and East Walnut in Gurdon or to First United Presbyterian Church, 695 Calvin St., Fayetteville, AR 72701.
