Whatever retirement means to one, early planning at least as early as the middle years is the key factor in achieving satisfaction through financial security in later years. Joyce gave steps in financial planning and setting goals to make chances better that the last years' of life will be golden,' if a person has good health and adequate financial resources. Tootsie Dempsey presided during the business session and gave the inspirational reading of Farmer and the Old Mule.' Sixteen members and one visitor, Ollie Jean Allen, answered the roll call with "What makes the golden years golden for you?" A note of appreciation was read from Cabe Middle School's principal, Jeff Alexander, for the big red delicious apples provided to the school's teachers and workers. With each apple came a refrigerator magnet in needle point made by Cathy Bauer. A thank you note was read for the E.T. Dodgen memorial given to his sister, Lavern Bauer.
