Johnny J. Shewbirt, 73, of Prescott died Friday, June 9, 2000, in North Little Rock.

Mr. Shewbirt was born October 24, 1926, in McKinney, Texas, to Johnny Wesley and Estell Blurton Shewbirt. He was a farmer and cattleman. Mr. Shewbirt was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ruthie Durst Shewbirt of Prescott; one son, John Timothy Shewbirt of Hope; four daughters and sons-in-law, Kathye and Ronald Buckallew of Fort Worth, Texas, Beverly and Buddy Loe of Emmet; Jan and Jerry Booker of Prescott and Sherry and David Robinson of Sherwood; two brothers, Billy Joe Shewbirt of Bodcaw and Doyal Ray Shewbirt of Frankston, Texas; two sisters, Ouida Williams and Patricia Fraser, both of Bodcaw; 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 11; at Harmony Methodist Church near Sutton with Bro. Rodney Langston and Bro. Raymond Hicks officiating. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
