Better fill up your gas tanks. I've heard gas is $1.75 per gallon in St. Louis and $2.25 per gallon in Chicago.

June 14th is Flag Day, according to an act signed by President Harry Truman in 1949. If you have a flag, this would be a good day to display it.

It seems we have a funeral around here about every week. Cora Mae Starnes was buried at Bluff City Cemetery on June 12. She was the widow of Henry Grady Starnes.

Millard and Elloene McBride traveled to Hot Spring Village to attend the Moore family reunion last weekend. Their children, Norma and Doug, were home as well as some of the grandchildren.

Our sympathy is extended to Kay Sellers. Her brother, Jerry Bishop, who was injured a few weeks ago in an explosion at work, passed away last week in Houston. She and Bill

traveled to Texas for the funeral last weekend.

Some of the sick folks around here are improving. Oleta Nelson is back home from the hospital and was able to be in church on Sunday. Margie Knight is also improving.

Jeff Phillips can tell you that a black snake will bite you. I don't know what he did to provoke the snake, but he was bitten on the hand a few days ago. I think Jeff will recover, but I don't know the condition of the snake.

Lauren and Lexi Nelson spent several days with their grandparents, James and Kay Nelson.

Jodie and Debbie Nelson from Nashville, Tenn., made a quick trip to Bluff City to visit his parents, Claudis and Oleta Nelson.

Here's some old news from the fall of 1908: A string of wagons loaded with 22 bales of cotton, belonging to J. N. Byrd and Henry Bros. of Bluff City, were seen in Prescott and attracted considerable attention. They usually sell to other markets, but decided to try Prescott this year.

A thought for this week: If you lend someone twenty dollars and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
