Some people just don't learn, and being a slow learner wound up getting a local man arrested on drug charges Saturday.

According to reports from the Prescott Police Department, Derric Shaw, 20, of Prescott, was driving down Greenlawn around 2 p.m. Saturday.

He was pulled over by PPD officer David Jones who had given Shaw a ticket for driving on a suspended license just a few days before. Officer Walt De Young assisted in the arrest.

The subsequent search of Shaw's vehicle turned up several individually wrapped bags of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

Shaw was placed under arrest for driving on a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance, namely marijuana, with intent to deliver. This is a class Y felony carrying a penalty of 10 to 40 years or life in the Arkansas Department of Correction upon conviction.

Shaw is being held in the Nevada County jail.
