Ray and Dee Ann Potter of Bryant are proud to announce the arrival of daughter, Lauren Leslie Potter, born Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at St. Vincent Doctor's Hospital in Little Rock.

She weighed six pounds and five ounces, and she was 19= inches long.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Canfield of Searcy and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Potter of Gurdon.

The family of Sam and Alice (Karr) Cooper will hold their family reunion Saturday, June 24, at 9:00 a.m. at the Gurdon City Park. Friends of the family are welcome to join the group for visitation and a potluck luncheon.

Christian Women's Workshop will be offered by the First Church of God. Focusing on friendship and self-esteem, the workshop will be held Saturday, June 17, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Everyone is invited.

First Church of God in Gurdon, Highway 67 South, will be presenting the singing group Future and Glory' Saturday, June 17, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Central Arkansas Development Council has discontinued accepting applications for crisis intervention assistance June 7. Funds for this program have become depleted.

A blood drive will be held Thursday, June 29, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for United Blood Services (UBS). It is sponsored by area businesses. A UBS mobile unit will be at Main and Second Streets. Donors receive free T-shirts.

A variety of classes will be held this summer by the Arkadelphia Parks and Recreation Department as part of its Sunsational Summer for Kids' program.

Swim lessons will be given June 19-30 (cost: $39); art lessons will be held June 19-23 and June 26-30 (cost: $65); and dance lessons will be held July 10-21 (folk - cost: $5) and July 10-14 (dance music - cost: $5). You may call 246-5499 for more information.

Parks family reunion will be held Saturday, June 17, at 10 a.m. at the Fair Park Community Center in Hope.

The Arkansas Department of Health announces the availability of funds to support abstinence education efforts for the period October 1 through September 30, 2001. A request for proposal, which includes an application packet, may be obtained by contacting Shaun Addison at 501-661-2019. Applications are due on June 30.

The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club meets every second Thursday of each month at the Gurdon Municipal building beginning at 10:00 a.m. Any interested person is welcome to attend.

The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather.

Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
