Cooperation Seen As Biggest Need In Gurdon Says Survey

An unofficial survey was conducted last week to determine what Gurdon needs.

The only question asked was "What does Gurdon need" with all answers accepted.

Oddly enough, more people answered the town needs to work better together and get along more than anything else.

There were comments on recreational needs for the young people, but becoming a tight-knit community topped the list.

One suggestion was a theater where young people could go and watch movies.

Another was a restaurant that was open Sundays.

One response called for more volunteers to work with programs such as city beautification and baseball. Young people were urged to get involved in the community and help do these things.

Being more careful with trash and garbage, while getting old houses and lots cleaned up so people could take more pride in Gurdon.

Jobs and housing was another answer. It was said the area needs more jobs which would then create a need for more housing and benefit the economy all around as new people would also move in.

Something constructive for young people to do was another response to the question. It was said the community needs to pull together and do more for those in need, especially the young.

More openness and understanding was suggested by another responding. Along with this the responder said recreation is needed, as is a place for young people to go and jobs for teenagers.

One of the last people questioned said people in Gurdon need to get along better with one another.

An auditorium being built as a gathering place for the community and community activities to help develop a sense of comradery, was suggested as well.

This was an unofficial survey, done without using any type of controls. It was also not sanctioned by any governing body or other organization.
