Gurdon High Awards Assembly HeldPublished Wednesday, May 31, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesGurdon High School held an assembly before school was dismissed for the summer to honor outstanding students from each classroom. Each teacher chose a student from the many classes to receive an award for a specific subject for the school year. They are Brian McKin, agriculture mechanics; Justin Mallet, agriculture science and technology; Patrick Haynie, forestry; Justin Uchtman, farm structures; Cameron Coston, animal science; Kristen Mallet, leadership in agriculture; Kevin Powell, welding technology; Keith Reed, physical science; Andrew Wilson, physics; Jodi Purifoy, chemistry; Christina Currey, principles of technology I; Heather Griffin, principles of technology II; Bradley Weems, biology II; and Patrick Haynie, biology I. Also awarded were Stephanie Morgan, trigonometry; Jessica Guthrie, advanced math; Joe Plyler, algebra II; Bradley Weems, geometry; Jake Plyler, algebra I; Justin McCarter, integrated algebra I; Eddie Fort, integrated geometry; Latoya Crudup, geometry investigations; and Christina Currey, COE. Other students honored were Bradley Weems, computer technology; Whitney Hogue, multi-media; Pamela Quarles, child development; Kristen Mallet, family consumer science; Brandy Francis, art I; Stephen Purifoy, art II; Denet Brown, art III; Cameron Coston, art IV; and Karlisha House, library science. Other awards included Tiffaney Ware, athlete award for academics; Raul Avalos, Chritina Taylor, Alana Finley, Nicole Authement and Brian Green, physical education; and Tiffaney Ware and Jocelyn Washington, driver education. More classroom students honored were Kanona Berry and Leslie Baumgardner, health; Annie Otwell and Jake Plyler, choir; and Shelliea Buck, ALE.
