A phone tip led to the arrest of three Nevada County individuals Wednesday, May 24.

According to Nevada County Sheriff Steve Otwell, a call came into the Nevada County Sheriff's Office with information about suspicious items in the Bodcaw area believed to be stolen.

Otwell arrived at the scene and found several boxes with a Rosston address on them. He contacted the person's name on the address, Mary May, getting her to come and identify the contents.

May said she hadn't been home for a few months and didn't realize anything had been taken. She also identified the items in the boxes as being hers.

Otwell obtained a warrant to search the home of Keith Jones of Bodcaw, but nothing was found in the mobile home.

All of the boxes had been found in the back of a truck parked in the yard.

As Otwell was preparing to leave a vehicle with three men pulled up. He questioned them, with the trio confessing they had entered the May residence thinking it was an abandoned house. They also admitted taking the items when riding around Sunday, May, 21.

The three, John Ryan Foster, 21, Mike Ross Foster, 18, and Jonathan Isaac McAteer, 19, were placed under arrest.

The boxes contained antiques valued at more than $10,000. They were returned to May at the scene.

The trio was arrested and charged with residential burglary and felony theft of property. They are being held in the Nevada County jail.
