Classy Moments from Cabe Middle SchoolPublished Wednesday, May 24, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesIf you missed the junior high choir concert, you missed a beautiful performance. Those students seemed to surprise some members of the audience with their ability to sing and perform the dance routine at the same time. Mrs. Hitt, choir director, deserves a lot of thanks' for the time involved with those students to bring out the talent they did not know they had. A great job! The CMS Student Council conducted the last assembly of this school year Thursday. President Lynsey McKenzie administered the oath of office to the representatives: for sixth grade, Porcha Anderson, Christian Hopson and Josh Lockwood; seventh grade, Marco Giles, Jolee Jester and Callie King; and eighth grade, Jessie Livingston, Haleigh McDaniel and Lezlee White. The new officers are Krissi Davies, parliamentarian; Carolanne Duke, reporter; Colton McClure, treasurer; Allison Anderson, secretary; and Jordan Purifoy, vice president. Outgoing president McKenzie presented the gavel to Christa Hopson, the president for the school year 2000-2001. The rain caused delays in some field trips that had been planned. Although it was disappointing for those who had planned to be gone for the day, they found something to do to occupy their time. The Student Council has extra copies of the yearbook. If you are interested in purchasing one just send $15 or call Mrs. Clingan. We have accomplished a lot this year and look forward to the next school year. We are excited about the work being done on the new track as it will be so nice to have our own and not have to go away to all track meets, but can have some at our own school. The awards ceremony will be Friday, May 26, at 8:30 a.m. in the high school gym. You are invited to attend. If students will bring a stamp self-addressed envelope and give to their home room teacher by Friday, they will not need to come to school Saturday, May 27, to get their grades. It means so much to have people tell us how much they enjoy our article. Thanks to Jackie, Sharon, and Christy. You just made out day. Next week will bring this year to a close and we will take a few weeks off and then be back making those Classy Moments at CMS. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
