Church Women MeetPublished Wednesday, May 24, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesThe Women of the Church of God met Tuesday, May 16, at the church. Doris Vance was the hostess. She served a delicious dinner, then presented the lesson. She shared a message which introduced the theme for the WCG for the year 2000-2001, Ordinary Women Extra Ordinary Compassion.' The theme scripture is found in Plilippians 2:1-4. "If there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in the spirit, any compassion and sympathy make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others." The WCG has been very busy in May. The Arkansas WCG convention was held at the Snow Springs Campground May 5 and 6. In addition several ladies attended the Women of Faith convention in Little Rock May 12 and 13. More special events are planned throughout the summer.
