Effie SimpsonMOORE FUNERAL HOME of ARLINGTONPublished Wednesday, May 24, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Effie Sampson, 92, of Arlington, Texas, died Monday, May 15, 2000. Mrs. Sampson was born to George F. and Christine Whitten on April 6, 1908, in Cale. She was a teacher in Cale, where she met her late husband, James Raymond Sampson. They were married for 42 years before he passed away in 1976. She was awarded a distinguished service award from the Church of the Nazarene in 1998 for 45 years of service to the church. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald Robert Babers. She had a special love for all who knew her and she loved everyone in her own special way. Survivors include one son, James Sampson of College Station, Texas; four daughters, Joyce McPhail of Giddings, Texas, Mary Babers of Arlington, Texas, Betty Atchlly of Richardson, Texas, and Emily Whatley of Arlington, Texas; ten grandchildren, Kathie Jacobus, Gloria McPhail, Paul McPhail, Rachel Duarte, Angela Whatley, Jay Sampson, Matt Sampson, Darla Whatley, Scott Sampson and Jennifer Sampson; great grandchildren, Ray Jacobus and Kristopher Jacobus; and cousins, Velma White and Iris Freeland. Funeral services were held Friday, May 19, at First Church of the Nazarene of Arlington, Texas.
