The second grade classes of Prescott Elementary have been learning to write letters. In addition they have been studying the different states in this nation. They read the book Flat Stanley, which is about a boy whose bulletin board fell on him during the night and flattened him. He found that he could do all sorts of things being flat. His favorite thing was when his parents folded him up and put him in an envelope and mailed him across the country to a friend and they took him on many sightseeing tours. The PES students made their own Flat Stanleys/Stephanies in each respective class and mailed them to family and friends. They have learned about different places, landmarks and people that Flat Stanley/Stephanie encountered on their trip.

When a reply from the letters came in the students posted Flat Stanley-Stephanie on a big map in the hall. Also exhibited were the photos and brochures that each child received. It was a rewarding learning experience for each second grade student. Respective class students are pictured from the left.
