College News - Amber HawthornePublished Wednesday, May 24, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneAmber M. Hawthorne, a graduate of Nevada High School, was named the recipient of an achievement award scholarship to Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. The four-year scholarship is based on ACT scores and pays partial tuition. In high school Hawthorne was a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, Drug Free Team and the yearbook staff. She was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students. Hawthorne plans to major in social work. She is the daughter of Sindee Hawthorne of Hope.
