Mr. Kuhn was one of those special men who filled his life with work, family, church and friends. To some he was known as 'Daddy,' 'Papaw,' 'Uncle Grover' or 'Mr. Kuhn.' Regardless of how he was addressed, he was loved, respected and appreciated for his wit and wisdom. He could always be counted on for an interesting story and he could never be bested for humorous remarks. Hiring out with Missouri Pacific Railroad as a fireman, he shoveled many tons of coal for several years on a run from Gurdon to El Dorado. Eventually diesel engines replaced the old steam engines and his job assignments took him to various parts of the state. He retired as a locomotive engineer in 1972 after 30 years of service. Mr. Kuhn served as a deacon at Red Springs Baptist Church and later at First Baptist Church, where he was a long time member. He remained an active participant there until the last month of his life. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 187. Mr. Kuhn was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years.
