History Of PHS Class Of 2000 Is GivenPublished Wednesday, May 24, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneIt was August 1987, and there were 118 students getting ready for their first day of kindergarten. They could no longer just lie around doing as they pleased. "We have joined the real world," they thought. That was the day that a lifetime of friendships and memories would start for everyone in the class of 2000. Although the kindergarten class of 1987 began with 118 students, only 59 of the original class members remain. After graduating from kindergarten, our first grade teachers were Mrs. Blevins, Mrs. House, Mrs. Joyce, Mrs. Murry, and Mrs. Hamilton. We were no longer able to take naps and enjoy doing easy classwork. We were forced to do hard work all day long. Bridgette, do you remember stealing Mrs. Whitmarsh's lip-gloss and blaming it on Vontrice and Danielle? We were all terrified of that day. Why? We had heard about Mr. Mitchell and his paddle. A third of our education had passed, yet fears of Prescott Middle School increased. We made it to middle school, but again, we were the little ones, and we were terrified of Mr. Mitchell. Rumors were flying about his electric paddle and his secret hiding places. Our teachers were Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Farris, Mrs. McKinnon, and last, but not least, Mr. Wilson. Aaron, do you remember this happening to you everyday in Mr. Wilson's class:"Aaron, are you talking?" "No, sir." "Aaron did your mother tell you not to lie? That will be one day for talking and one day for lying, now turn around Aaron!" A new challenge for us this year was electing student council officers. They were Carlos Franklin, president; Matt Brannan, vice president; Brett Woods, secretary; Shanteze Carr, reporter; and Russell Niemyer, treasurer. Our student council representatives were Carlos Franklin, Russell Niemyer, Lauren Wilson, Brett Woods, Cameron Sims, Traci Graham, Shanteze Carr, Laura Johnston, and Matt Brannan. During our ninth grade year, Cameron Wiley, Jack Nelson, Scott Robertson, Jessica Brooks, Nicole Spigner, and Gus Kisselburg made All-Region band. The band performed the half-time show "Wild Wild West." We had a great football season this year. Our record was 6-2. We also had a great basketball season, with a record of 17-5. The Miss PHS Pageant was a big success Kristian Teague was crowned Miss PHS, winning interview, sportswear, and evening gown. Traci Graham won first runner-up and talent winner. Crystal Moss won second runner-up. At the prom we all had a blast. Sarah Hicks and Matt Brannan were crowned Prince and Princess. The prom was the last big event that happened for the class of 2,000.
