After a very stormy Friday night we were treated to a very nice Mother's Day weekend. Several visitors were seen in the community on Sunday as children returned home for a visit. If I tried to mention all those who were visiting, I would probably leave someone out.

Jerry Bishop, brother of Kay Sellers, who was seriously injured in an explosion at work, remains in the hospital at Greenville, Miss. He seems to be improving, but is still in serious condition. Olen Loe has been in a Texarkana hospital for several days. They are doing several tests to see exactly what his problem is.

Linda Carman is sporting a new vehicle.

Services were held for Woodrow Booker this past week with burial in

Bluff City Cemetery.

Since I don't have much to report this week, I will go back to the year 1928 for some news. Miss Maurine Henry spent the night with Miss Helen Harvey on Saturday and they had an interesting game of flinch. Little Elloene Moore has been suffering with her back, caused by hurting it last summer while playing.

I'm sure some of you are wondering where I get all this old stuff. It's called history, and all it takes is some research to find it. As Thomas Jefferson said, "A morsel of genuine history is a thing so rare as to be always valuable." If you don't like the old stuff, give me some modern day news to report. Until then, I will try to mix the old with the new. You also have the option of switching to another channel.

Don't forget to exercise your right to vote on May 23. Someone once said that bad officials are elected by good people who don't vote.
