Dr. Robert M. StaintonRUEBEL FUNERAL HOME of LITTLE ROCKPublished Wednesday, May 17, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Dr. Robert M. Stainton, 79, of Little Rock died Sunday, May 14, 2000. Mr. Stainton was born in Dierks and graduated from Prescott High School. He received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1940 and his M.D. from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1944. He was a WWII veteran serving with the U.S. Army until 1953, when he joined the Arkansas National Guard, serving thirty years. He served his surgical residency at UAMS. Dr. Stainton had a private practice in Little Rock for many years before joining the staff at the Veteran's Hospital, where he worked for 20 years. He was Medical Director of the Arkansas Veteran's Home at the time of his death. He was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Y. Stainton, and a brother, William G. Stainton. Survivors include, his children, Robert M. Stainton Jr., M.D., and Joseph C. Stainton M.D., both of Jonesboro, Mary S. Stainton and Daniel Y. Stainton, both of Little Rock; one sister, Dorothy Garner of Prescott; and six grandchildren, Robert M. Stainton III, Christopher M. Stainton, James M. Stainton, Mary Claire Stainton, Elizabeth S. Stainton and Alexandra L. Stainton. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon today, Wednesday, May 17, at Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Ed Simpson. Burial will be in Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock. Visitation was to be Tuesday night from 5:00 to 7:00 at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W.
