The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Brittany Collins of Camden has been named a national award winner in Student Council.

Collins, who attends Harmony Grove High School, was nominated for this national award by Mary Bever, a teacher at her school. Collins' name will appear in the U.S. Achievement Academy official Yearbook, which is published nationally.

"Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America's history, Dr. George Stevens, executive director of the academy, said. "Certainly, United States Achievement Academy winners should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement."

The criteria for selection are a student's academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, citizenship, attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability and recommendation from a teacher or director.

Collins is the daughter of Don Collins of Prescott and Vicki Taylor of Camden. She is the granddaughter of Tom and Ruby Fontaine of Prescott and Earl and Kathryn Hesse of Arkadelphia.
