Club News - Redland EHCPublished Wednesday, May 17, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneOn Tuesday, May 2, the Redland Extension HC met in the home of Betty Cagle with eight members present. The meeting was called to order by vice Betty Cagle, vice president. The club creed was read by Marie McNeely. Inspirational thought was a beautiful poem entitled Don't Quit,' read by Leona Ballard. Prayer was by Mary Lee Kisselburg. Roll call was answered with "Sourdough brings what thought to mind?" The program for May was about Sourdough and Other Breads.' Ida Haynie gave a brief history and uses of sourdough. Betty Cagle gave demonstrations on three different breads made with the sourdough starter and how to add to the starter for making breads, etc. A cup of starter was given to all members present. Next month the club will go to DeGray Lake for its annual picnic and fun day. Leona Ballard will be in charge of the day's fun activities. Each will take their favorite picnic foods that will be shared. President Joy Cox will contact members on final picnic details. The picnic is set for June 7. A summer leader training session will take place at the Extension building May 25. The theme will be Planning Outstanding Education Exhibits' for the morning session. The afternoon session will be Landscaping.' Faye Zumwalt will attend the morning session and Betty Cable will attend that afternoon to bring the July program.
