Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellow-ship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

Moms in Touch prayer groups for schools and children meet Tuesdays from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. at First Baptist Church. For more information call 887-6376.

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott at the courthouse May 25 and June 22.

Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213.

White's Chapel Baptist Church will have its revival June 12-16 with services starting at 7:30 each night. Bro. Jerry Evans will be the evangelist. White's Chapel is located between Bodcaw and Willisville on County Road 7.

S.C.A.N., (suspected child abuse and neglect) needs volunteers. You can volunteer your services to help brighten the life of a child in your community.

CNC Extension Homemakers Club will be sponsoring a bean and cornbread supper Saturday, May 20, at 5 p.m. at Cale City Hall.

The supper will cost $2, which will also give you a chance to win an Afghan.

Entertainment will include country and gospel singing and candidates will have the opportunity to speak briefly.

There will be try-outs for a dance troupe Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at the Prescott High School auditorium. This group of tappers will entertain at several events and productions throughout the year.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church is inviting all the political candidates to speak on Saturday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Descendants of Wyatt Harris will have their annual family reunion on Saturday, May 20, starting at 10:30 at the Prescott Housing Community. There will be a potluck at noon. All relatives and friends are invited.

The annual business and planning meeting for Nevada County Day Service Center, Bright Beginnings Day Care and Nevada County Recycling and Work Center will be Thursday, May 18, at 6 p.m. at the Day Service Center.

This is a joint meeting for board of directors, parents, consumers and staff. New officers and directors will be elected and goals set for 2000-2001 fiscal year. There will be a board of directors meeting immediately following the annual business meeting. Board meetings are open to the public in compliance with the Freedom of Information Act. Any person who wishes to be placed on the agenda should contact the Day Service Center at 887-6675.

The Blevins annual school reunion will be held Saturday, May 20, at Western Sizzlin in the banquet room in Hope. Registration and visitation begins at 3 p.m. A Dutch treat buffet will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Missionary Grove Baptist Church of Prescott will have its homecoming services Sunday, May 20. Bro. Dexter Blevins will be the morning speaker at 10:30. Lunch will follow with singing in the afternoon.

Bluff Springs Baptist Church will have its homecoming Sunday, May 21, starting at 10:30 a.m. with Bro. Wayne Langston bringing the message.

A potluck lunch will be served and there will be singing in the afternoon.

The Laneburg Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at Monday, June 5, at 7:00 p.m. at Laneburg Baptist Church. Those interested are invited to attend.

The annual Mauldin reunion will be held Saturday, May 27, at Gurdon Lake on Highway 67. It starts at 10:30 a.m. with potluck lunch to follow. Everyone is invited.

A men's softball tournament will be held in Hope at Northside Park, 1709 Spruce St., May 26 and 27. Deadline to enter is May 24 at 5 p.m. Entry fee is $95 per team. For more information call Nathaniel Holyfield at 777-0382 or 772-2548.

Sharon Lee of Texarkana, Texas, spent the weekend with her mother, Margaret White. They had a good weekend. They had dinner at the new Fish Nest Restaurant Saturday night, went to church Sunday morning and visited the Mt. Moriah, Caney and Friendship Cemeteries.

She also visited her father, Mack, and Billie Almond before returning home.
