Published Wednesday, May 17, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune

STORM DAMAGE - The Cloer residence on East Elm Street lost a majestic oak tree Friday, May 12, due to straight line winds. Prescott and Nevada County crews worked late Friday and most of the day Saturday cleaning up debris. Prescott city crew member Clint Stockton (left) hauls limbs to the shredding machine while Paul Hicks (right) works a chainsaw in the top of the tree. The crew worked most of the day on the tree which took down telephone and cable lines. A hive of bees was found in the trunk of the tree later in the day. Damage was done to the sidewalk, a retaining wall, the corner of the Cloer's roof and their yard. Other damage was reported throughout the county, with several roads being blocked during the night. Martin Place Apartments in Prescott also received damage.
