Delton Clark ForthmanHORNE FUNERAL HOME of GURDONPublished Wednesday, May 17, 2000 in the Gurdon Times Delton Clark Forthman, 73, died Sunday, May 14, at his home in Gurdon. Mr. Forthman was a self-employed logging contractor, whose career began at age 13, when he went to work for his uncles, Hess and Henry Forthman. He worked hard, and within a few years was able to buy his first log truck. He contracted for Cabe Lumber Company until recently. For the last year he contracted for Charles Ledbetter. Delton was a devoted family man and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond D. and Anna Orlena Whitlock Forthman; one daughter, Alice Faye Cox; one great granddaughter, Brittnay Nicole Key; one brother, Houston Forthman; and two sisters, Marietta McDonald and Alice Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hester Forthman, a daughter and son in-law, Linda and Roland Earl Calley, granddaughters, Melissa and Misty Calley, granddaughter and grandson in-law, Mindy and Tim Williams, great grandchildren, Brandon and Emily Williams, widowed son in-law, Paul Cox, granddaughter and grandson in-law, Ceciley and Kevin Key, great grandson, Hayden Key, and grandson, Ryan Cox, all of Gurdon. Other survivors include one brother, George R. Forthman of Mt. Ida, and two aunts, Estelle Bear of Gurdon and Irene Harper of Benton. He had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 16, at Horne Funeral Chapel with interment at Bethlehem Cemetery near Gurdon. Pallbearers were Paul Cox, Johnny Calley, Mike Gills, Jake McBride, Jackie Rhodes and Robert Slater. Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Key and Tim Williams.
