Betty Gulley, pastor. Sis Marie Mitchell, president. Special guest will be Sis. Donna Hart of Arkadelphia, daughter of Sis. Mitchell, who will be the speaker. Revival services will be held at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church May 15-19 at 7:00 nightly. Evangelist for the week will be Rev. H.B. Montgomery, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church of Ft. Worth, Texas. Annual Mission Day program Sunday, May 21, at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Gurdon. Rev. Quintin Radford, pastor. Sis. Vernessia Russey, president. 11:00 a.m. speaker Rev. Rose Ridgell, pastor of Oak Grove A.M.E. Church of Selma. 2:00 p.m. special guest Eastern Star Baptist Church, Rev. Marshall Allen, pastor, and the Mt. Cannan Baptist Church of Gurdon, Rev. Johnny C. Harris, pastor and speaker. Spring revival services will be held May 17-19 at 7:30 nightly at the old senior citizen building on Longhorn Street in Gurdon. Evangelist for the week will be Rev. M.C. Donna Haynes, pastor of Tender Heart Ministry of Hope. The Welch family planning meeting will be held Saturday, May 27, at 6:00 p.m. in the home of Winfred and Margret Burton of Gurdon. The officers and members of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Gurdon will celebrate their pastor and his wife, Rev. and Mrs. Quintin Radford's third pastor's anniversary Sunday, June 4, at 3:00 p.m. Everyone and all churches are welcome. Special guest will be McGhee Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Howard Bess, pastor and speaker. Mattie Michelle Thomas Norman of Little Rock graduated cum laude from Philander Smith College in Little Rock Saturday, May 13, at 6:00 p.m. with a bachelor of arts degree. She is the daughter of Mrs. Johnnie Allen of Gurdon. Tommy E. Stafford and Debra Stafford of Hot Springs spent the night with their parents, James A. and Frances Stafford, and celebrated Mother's Day with their mother also, Lori Stafford, of Arkadelphia. The third Sunday night fellowship singing will convene with Clayborn Chapel A.M.E. Church in Spring Hill at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome time. Bro. Roosevelt House and Bro. Leodis Lyons in charge. Rev. Parham, pastor. Rev. Kendall Marshall and his mother, Lindell Marshall, of Benton visited their cousin, Jerine Hatley, Sunday for Mother's Day. On Saturday, May 13, the Hatley family celebrated their mother, Mrs Odessia Hatley's, 74 birthday and Mother's Day also. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Leon Buford and son Thomas and Mrs. Brendel Hatley of Battle Creek, Mich.; Barbara Keaton, her daughters, Bonita and Latosha Keaton and a friend of SAU, Juila Minnol; Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hatley and daughter, Asia, and Rochel Hatley of Arkadelphia, her mother, Mrs. Mae Cook, Jerine Hatley and Margret Burton, her husband Jim Hatley of Gurdon. Mrs. Odessia Hatley received a lawn Buddy bird feeder and a hat. Mrs. Mae Cook received an angel and a fern. Jerine Hatley received a black Moses. Food was served buffet style. The lovely occasion was in Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hatley's home. Mrs. Ella G. Burton of Chicago, Ill., have returned home after visiting her son, Winfred Burton, and grandchildren and attending the graduation of her nephew Saturday, May 13, at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, her sister in-law, Margret Burton, her cousin, Valree Smith, nieces and nephews of Gurdon and other friends and relatives.
