PHS Track Duo Finish 10th In State MeetPublished Wednesday, May 10, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayunePrescott seniors Aaron Hearnsberger and Brad Harris both qualified to compete in the AAA state track meet held last Friday, May 5, in Heber Springs. Harris qualified in the 300 intermediate hurdles at the district meet in Prescott with a time of 39.3, which was also a new 7AAA district record, while earning him first place. He also qualified in the 110 high hurdles, posting a time of 15.2. Hearnsberger also qualified during the district meet in the pole vault with a height of 12' 8". The state meet saw Harris winning the prelims of the 110 as he smoked his opponents and narrowly missed a new state record with a 14.29 time, a personal best. The finals saw Harris hitting nearly every hurdle to throw off his timing and he finished fourth with a 15.3. The 300 was a very competitive race with Harris finishing second with a time of 40.1, only .6 of a second behind the first place finisher. Hearnsberger was also competitive in the pole vault event. He vaulted 12' 4", which earned him a sixth place ribbon. Prescott finished 10th out of 26 teams with only two competitors. Nashville won the state meet in both the boys' and girls' divisions.
