Charmett Club

Published Wednesday, May 10, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune

The April meeting of the Charmett Civic and Social Club was held in the conference room of Wolves.

The meeting was called to order by the interim president, Mae Hamilton. Yvonne Thomas gave the devotional. The minutes were read by Verion Adams, secretary. Joyce Gibson gave the treasurer's report.

Mary J. Brown from the Nevada County Department of Human Services spoke to the group on the need to identify at-risk children from birth to age three in Nevada County.

The club members ordered dinner from the menu.

The regular order of business was conducted by the members of the club. After the business segment was completed, the members enjoyed presenting club sister Elaine Williams with a bathroom shower for her mother, Mrs. Mary Murphy. Mrs. Murphy lost her home to a fire some months ago. She has just recently moved back into her newly renovated home. Charmett Club adopted the bathroom as a means of support.

The shower having concluded the business of the club, the meeting was adjourned.

Present for the April meeting were Verion Adam, Shunna Austin, Vera Austin, Loretta Fort, Joyce Gibson, Mae Hamilton, Anita Henry, Marcia Muldrew, Yvonne Thomas and Elaine Williams.

Absent from the April meeting were Gladys Kirby, Linda Moore, Michele Rhodes, Patricia Rhodes, Dorothy Smith and Juanita Stewart.
