Golden OldiesBy DORIS VANCEPublished Wednesday, May 10, 2000 in the Gurdon Times Senior citizens at the Gurdon senior Citizens Center exercised three days last week. Beatrice Stafford played the piano so we could sing. Mike Nicks, Channel 4's meteorologist, spoke to the seniors one day. One group of ladies enjoyed the spring fling on Friday, which was held at the Hot Springs Fairgrounds. Monday, May 8, Eulah Wilson, Gurdon's spelling bee winner, was to compete with Arkadelphia's winners. The rest of the week we will have music, National Park Medical with blood sugar and blood pressure screening, and honoring mothers on Friday. There is a quote in our May calendar, "A mother is not a person to lean on, but a person to make leaning unnecessary." Sybil Harris if responsible for the May birthday window. Thank you, Sybil.
