Three Ouachita Baptist University students from Prescott were among the 255 who received their degrees at the 112th annual spring commencement exercises at May 15 at the Roy and Christine Sturgis Physical Education Center.

Prescott students were Susan Ashley Brannan, who graduated with a bachelor of arts in business administration and finance; and Robert Poole and Tommy Poole, who graduated with a bachelor of science in education, health, physical education and recreation.

The awarding of the diplomas for the 1999 Ouachita graduating class was conferred by OBU President Dr. Andrew Westmoreland.

Several students from Nevada County graduated from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia Friday, May 14.

The graduates were Sarah Allison Huett of Emmet with a B.A. in history; from Rosston, Amber Diane Dillard with an A.S. in nursing; Steven Earl May with an A.S. in nursing; and from Prescott: Deanna Gay Ellis with a B.S.E. in English education; Russell Keith Glass with a B.S. in agriculture sciences; Katie Lynn Gordon, cum laude with B.B.A. in accounting; and Shannon Marie Womble, B.B.A. in accounting.

SAU conferred degrees to 320 students. Of those students, 30 graduated with honors. Students attaining a grade point average of 3.50-3.74 graduated cum laude, students who earn a GPA of 3.75-3.89 graduated magna cum laude and students who earn a GPA of 3.90-4.00 graduated summa cum laude, the highest honor bestowed.

Four students from Prescott made the dean's list at Henderson State University during the spring semester. Andrew Almand, Kristi Ammons, Laura Culpepper and Dennis Pruitt all made the list.

Making the HSU honor Roll from Prescott were Tim Estes., Jonathan Martin, Teri Matthews and Amy Roland.

In all, 203 collegians earned dean's list status. In order to qualify for the list, the student had to earn a perfect 4.0 on 12 or more semester hours of course work.

Approximately 337 students made the university's honor roll for the spring term. They were required to earn a 3.5 grade point average on 12 or more semester hours.

Three University of Arkansas students from Prescott and one from Rosston graduated in May at the Fayetteville campus.

Graduating from Prescott are Vava Hooper with a bachelor of science degree in Zoology at the J.William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences; Ronald Loe with a master of science degree in civil engineering at the Graduate School; and Vicki Vasser with a bachelor of science degree in business administration in accounting at the Sam M. Walton College of Business Administration.

Danielle Hebert of Rosston graduated with a bachelor of science degree in special education in communication disorders at the College of Education and Health Professions.

More than 2,300 students received degrees at the university.
