Book Fair Safari at Gurdon Primary School will hold a parent/student breakfast Friday, May 12, beginning at 7:00 a.m. in the GPS cafeteria. Cost will be 50c for adults and regular prices for children. Reynolds Patterson plant reunion picnic will be Saturday, May 13, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Lake DeGray State Park for all Patterson plant employees, retirees and their families. A potluck lunch will be served. Call Lake DeGray State Park for directions. The annual meeting of the Easley Cemetery Association will meet on May 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Hammonds Chapel Baptist Church fellowship hall. A health fair will be held May 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Beverly Healthcare in Arkadelphia. Cholesterol screening will cost $5. It is sponsored in part by the Arkadelphia and Gurdon Senior Adult Centers. The Arkansas Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranches are seeking donations for a silent auction and a live auction to be held June 3. Individuals and businesses wanting to donate items are asked to contact Lisa Slisher at the ranch office at (870)793-6841, extension 0. Arrangements will be made to pick up any donated items. The board of directors of the Central Arkansas Development Council will meet Monday, May 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Malvern Senior Adult Center, 836 Acme Street in Malvern. Interested persons are invited to attend. The Arkansas Department of Health announces the availability of funds to support abstinence education efforts for the period October 1 through September 30, 2001. A request for proposal, which includes an application packet, may be obtained by contacting Shaun Addison at 501-661-2019. Applications are due on June 30. The descendants of Jesse and Mary Toland and Will and Nora Toland will meet for their annual reunion on May 21. The reunion will be held at the White Oak Lake pavilion. Potluck will be served for lunch. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Covenant Women's Conference, Break Through 2000,' featuring guest speakers Min. Jerime Horton, Min. National Park Medical Center provides blood sugar screening and blood pressure checks at the Gurdon Senior Adult Center on the second Thursday of each Month. David Goodson of the Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds producers of fall seeded crops, such as oats and wheat, the final date to report planted acres of these crops to the FSA office is May 15. Failure to report these acres could result in loss of benefits. Call 246-9816, extension 2, or come by 1030 Village Drive in Arkadelphia to make a report. The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club meets every second Thursday of each month at the Gurdon Municipal building beginning at 10:00 a.m. Any interested person is welcome to attend. Oak Grove Community Church continues to hold Sunday services at 10:00 a.m. through 12:00 noon. Tommy Parker and Homer Easley, evangelists, will preach until the return of their pastor, Rev. Charles Easley. Everyone is welcomed to attend. The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather. Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend. Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon. For more information, phone 353-4698.
