Clark County Dairy Foods Contest Planned

Published Wednesday, May 3, 2000 in the Gurdon Times

Does you child or teenager have a favorite recipe that uses dairy food? Successful competition could mean a pay-off in prize money as well as in good nutrition.

The Clark County Dairy Foods Contest will be held Thursday, May 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the Extension Home Makers Kitchen at the Clark County Fairgrounds.

The contest is divided into two categories: main fish and party ideas.

Students enrolled in grades four through 12 may enter. Each contestant must agree to participate in the State Cook-Off if his or her recipe is selected for the semi-finals. The Clark County Farm Bureau women are donating prize money, and the Clark County 4-H Club is organizing the competition.

The recipe must contain milk and/or dairy foods. Margarine, non-dairy creamer and non-dairy whipped topping are not dairy foods.

The building will be open to contestants at 6:30 p.m. Contestants will need to make a presentation of the dish using a space the size of a standard place mat. Each contestant needs a written or typed recipe on a single sheet of paper.

You must not write or type your name on the recipe for the county competition.

Complete guidelines and a score form are available at the Clark County Cooperative Extension office located at 501 Clay Street in Arkadelphia, or call 246-2281.
