Published Wednesday, May 3, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune

National Day of Prayer PrayY2K will be held Thursday, May 4, at the Nevada County Courthouse from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.

National Day of Prayer is an annual event, established in 1952 by Congress and President Harry S. Truman. Each year it is officially proclaimed by the president and supported by governors across America. Events are planned in all 50 states and U.S. territories.

The theme PRAY2K, America's Hope for the New Millennium,' is based on Romans 12:12"Be joyful in affliction, faithful in prayer." This year National Day of Prayer is sponsored by Prescott Ministerial Alliance.

Those attend should take a lawn chair and come to pray for our community and country.

Local merchants have been invited to close over the lunch hours to attend the national day of prayer.

If it rains the group will meet in the First Baptist gymnasium.
