Bodcaw NewsBy ALINE CLAUSPublished Wednesday, April 26, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune We had a full house at church Easter Sunday. A lot of families were together. On Easter we take a crude wood cross and the people decorate it with live flowers. It changes it to a thing of beauty. Live things grow. Are you a growing Christian? An Easter egg hunt was at Bodcaw #1 Saturday, April 22. We had about 25 children and at least that many adults. Each child colored an egg and were read an Easter story by Mary Anna. Each made a Jesus is alive' craft while the adults hid over 400 eggs. After the hunt everyone had bunny cookies and punch. At the end anyone who wanted to join in a raw egg toss and other raw egg games did. Each child took home a cross pin with their smiles. The J.D. Allens had all their family visiting. Saturday they went to Camden to a get together with J.D's sister, Lois Darby, and her family. They had a great time. Andy and Coleene brought little Carter Michael Allen for his first visit to great grandparents, J.D. and Marie. Earl and Sylvia Prosser celebrated Earl's 39+ birthday Saturday, April 15. Those attending were Lois and Earl Hill of Winter Haven, Fla., Rusty and Dick Lord from Denver, Colo., Dottie Crowe Wilson and Walley Wilson of Detroit, Texas. Dottie's son, Phillip, and Lisa Crowe also celebrated their wedding anniversary. They have two children, Seth and Nickie. Tom and Darlene Crowe of Texas and Tonya Pruitt from Little Rock brought a friend. Earl's family from Hope, Tina and Randy Sinyard, Jonathan, Joshua, Jessica, Earl Jr, and Tina and Michael, Robin Prosser and Earl Sr.'s sister, Bea Reams also attended. Hamburgers, hot dogs and all the trimmings were enjoyed by all. Sunday about 10 people went to tour old Washington and had lunch at The Tavern. They enjoyed the homemade rolls and jalapeno cornbread. But the cobblers were the best. Everyone went home and all is quite again. Gerald and Janet Harris of Malvern were in church with her sister, June, and Bro. Tom. It is always good to have visitors. Chad and Marsha Townsend were in church with Ken and Genie, Misti and Dusty. Tara Carlton and children were in church with Jimmy and Betty Carlton. Dexter Butler has been in the hospital a couple of days. he had skin cancer and skin graft. He came home Sunday. He is improving. Bret and Beth Thomas and little Haylee was in church. They wanted to attend Chasity Dorman's baptismal in the morning service. It was a great day for Easter Sunday. Jewel and Mary Poindexter had their family, Michael and Haden; Jewel Norman, Missy and Raci. It was good to have all the visitors including Rocky Cummings, John and Danielle Dorman and others. Sorry, I didn't get everyone names. The Berline Fullers were visiting her mom in Hope and the J.D. Allens for Easter. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
