PHS Site Earns An 'A'

Prescott High School was notified that its new website has achieved the A' list status and is listed in the Best Sites Showcase' on myschoolonline.com. Check it out online at www.myschoolonline.com /ar/curleywolf.

Last month the site developer from myschoolonline.com alerted the school that the Prescott site was generating over 350 hits a week, making it the most frequent school site in Arkansas.

The Best Sites Showcase' awards are based on the number of visitors and the quality of the site itself. The award is a national one and less then twenty schools have been so honored. Districts, schools or teachers may be designated.

A few teachers were introduced to the process in January and each created approximately four pages at the workshop. Since then, more than 100 pages have been added that should be of interest to the public.

Sandra Anderson Shope, art teacher at PHS, is site publisher for the high school. "I believe this new website can be our most valuable connection to the public," Shope stated. "It will give parents around the clock access to in-depth information about the school as well as insight in to the activities in which their children are involved."

The website has a calendar to announce events and alert parents when grade reports are handed out. A list of teachers, the courses they teach and contact information is also provided.

Parents can also check out the graduation requirements at the site and even see a list of course offerings to help their child's high school career. The new CAPS program involves parents in this procedure.

Student artwork, essays and poetry, classroom activities and student achievements will be featured online at the site.

All high school teachers will be involved in a workshop at the end of the school year to provide them with more web publishing skills.
