Humane Society Reports

Published Wednesday, April 26, 2000 in the Gurdon Times

The Humane Society of Clark County (HSCC) has released its activity report for 1999.

HSCC spent $7,300 in veterinary costs, caring for abused and injured animals.

Two visits by Arkansans for Animals,' which is a spay and neuter mobile unit, were sponsored by the HSCC.

HSCC spayed or neutered 500 cats and kittens. Cats and kittens adopted out numbered 290, while 125 sterilized wild cats were relocated.

Canines were fewer in numbers with 115 dogs and puppies being spayed, neutered and adopted out.

Many of the animals must be placed in volunteer foster homes due to the overcrowding of the shelters. It's a continuing effort on the part of the HSCC volunteers to provide care for the often discarded pets of Clark County.

If you would care to volunteer, provide a donation, fund the shelters, or need more information on the services provided you may contact the society at 870-245-2579.
