Local Music Students Raising FundsPublished Wednesday, April 19, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneLocal music students at the Tate-Garoy School of Music in Hope will be canvassing the city seeking charitable donations now through May 22. The students are engaged in a fund-raiser and have set a goal to obtain $5,000. Donations will be used to purchase musical instruments for use as teaching tools at the school. According to Mrs. Garoy, music teacher and founder of the school, one piano, 10 piano keyboards, 10 piano stands and 10 sets of earphones are currently needed to keep up with a student demand. A celebratory program will be held May 13 to honor the students from each age category who raised the most money. The winning student will receive five piano lessons and a copy of the Introduction to Play Chords Workbook. Persons interested in making a contribution or who may want additional information may contact Mrs. Garoy at 722-1903. Local students include Evelyn G.
