Prescott's Wolverettes posted their first softball win of the season last week.

They clipped Fountain Lake 13-9 in eight innings.

Elizabeth Wilson got the win. She spent 6 1/3 innings on the hill, tangling with 34 batters. She fanned six, walked five and gave up seven runs on six hits.

Christy Wyman got the save going the final 1 1/3 innings. Wyman faced 11 batters, striking one out, but walking five. She gave up two runs on one hit.

According to Coach David Maxwell, Jennifer Thornton came in to record the final out and preserve the win.

Sophia Dunn went two for five for the Wolverettes. She scored twice and drove two in.

Leah Thornton doubled in three in the top of the eighth to cap Prescott's scoring, while Heather Harris was two for five.

Wilson was a perfect two for two at the plate, scoring two runs, with Wyman also two for two, with two runs and a pair of RBIs.

"This was our first conference win," Maxwell said. "A lot of those runs were unearned because of errors. We're getting better."

The Wolverettes are now 1-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

They have home games Wednesday and Thursday, with start times of 4 p.m. The district tournament will begin Friday at Fountain Lake.
