Published Wednesday, April 19, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune

Sarah Hicks of Prescott and the Prescott FFA Chapter has been selected as a recipient of the Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award.

Hicks, the daughter of Donald and Linda Hicks, received the award for her excellence in academics and leadership.

James Cannon is Hicks' agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor at Prescott High School.

Over the past 53 years, thousands of high school seniors have received the Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the chapter's highest honor.

Hicks received a beautifully cast bronze pin while Prescott High School is given a walnut plaque to display.

In addition to the Agricultural Accomplishment Award, the Dekalb brand and its parent company, Monsanto, are long-time supporters of FFA proficiency awards. It also participates in the national FFA convention career show and career development events like the Agriscience Student Award.

Internships and college scholarships are also available to students pursuing careers in agriculture.
