College NewsPublished Wednesday, April 19, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneBrandi White, a senior at Emmet High School, has been awarded a Technical Scholarship to the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. The scholarship is based on an ACT score plus a recommendation from a school official. White is the daughter of Frank and Lucy White. She will be studying to be a licensed practical nurse. Carlos D. Franklin, a senior at Prescott High School, has accepted a President's Scholarship to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro next fall. His parents are Rosie and Jessie Dixon of Prescott. The President's Scholarship is available to Arkansas high school seniors who score at least 26 on the American College Test (ACT). ASU offers the scholarship to reward and encourage outstanding college-bound students. Recipients, who may choose from among 75 major fields of study, receive full tuition and a double-occupancy room in one of ASU's residence halls.
