Gilbert Lumber & Supply Celebrates 50th AnniversaryBY RICKY RAGSDALEPublished Wednesday, April 19, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune 50th ANNIVERSARY - Gilbert Lumber and Supply will hold a celebration of its 50th anniversary this Friday, April 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Frank Gilbert opened the lumber yard in 1950. His widow, Carolyn, sold the business to Donnie Steed in 1994. Steed and Bud Loe have over 25 years of experience in the lumber and concrete business. In addition to lumber and concrete, Gilbert's sells a variety of building supplies, doors, windows, paint, electrical supplies and a variety of tools. Other employees at Gilbert's includes Janice Hill, Frank Bradley, Donnie Dillard, Robbie Franks and Jeff Baker. Gilbert's is open from 7:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Gilbert's is located at 303 East Second South, next to the Nevada County Courthouse. Hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks will be served during the celebration.
