Classy Moments

Published Wednesday, April 19, 2000 in the Gurdon Times

Power Team. Our students really enjoyed having the opportunity to attend various assemblies with some members of the nationally known Power Team.

One member of the team is Gurdon's own Trey Talley. Of course we are very proud of him. He talked to the students of the importance of doing the right thing at all times, although it might not be what's popular at the time.

It was very exciting watching the team members break cement blocks, bend an iron rod over their head, breaking a ball bat over a leg and blowing a hot water bottle up until it burst. But, perhaps just watching as Lynsey McKenzie and Heather Drake holding on to the each end of the iron rod while they were being picked up and turned around in mid air was most enjoyable.

The Cabe Middle School Student Council purchased a door mirror for the teachers and a big thanks to Jolee Jester, Allison Anderson and Chad McClure for installing it so professionally.

Spring pictures will be taken Thursday, April 20. Usually several students have pictures made at that time.

The CMS Student Council assembly will be Thursday also. This will be the time the candidates who are running for office will give their speeches. It is difficult for some to stand in front of the student body and give a speech, but before long they are just as comfortable as they can be. Voting will take place Friday.

We are busy as we are nearing the close of this school year, but always on task while we make those Classy Moments at CMS.
