Published Wednesday, April 12, 2000 in the Gurdon Times

Dawson Education Cooperative, serving Clark, Garland, Hot Spring, Pike, Dallas and Saline Counties, welcomes a new service to its teachers and school districts.

R.D. Saunders director, announced recently that Dawson has the first rolling curriculum support center in the state of Arkansas.

Schools may check out the RV for a week at each district location and use the equipment and supplies found on board. The items include several Ellison cutters of various sizes, Ellison dies, construction paper, fun foam, pop-up sponge, a poster maker, computer, cold lamination, personal copier, button maker and much more.

Vertical files are brimming with units, activities and information for teachers to enhance their standards-driven curriculum.

Smart Start and Smart Step, the two state initiatives for grades kindergarten through fourth, and fifth through eighth, will be emphasized in the curriculum materials.

"We want the best for our students and teachers," Saunders said in a press release. "We want to assist the teachers in our schools by making this valuable resource available and accessible to them."

Saunders said the Dawson Teacher Center, located on the campus of Henderson State University, has been a huge success and a great help to current teachers and future teachers. He said the new RV service is an extension of the main center at HSU.
