Ila Upchurch Banquet Is Saturday

The Ila Upchurch banquet is scheduled for Saturday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the McRae Middle School cafetorium.

This year's theme for the banquet is A New Focus in the 21st Century.' The guest speaker will be Wendell L. Griffen.

Griffen was born in Prescott, but grew up in Delight. He is a 1973 graduate of the University of Arkansas, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in political science. Griffen then received a jurist doctor's degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law.

He has been given numerous awards.

He joined the Little Rock Law Firm of Wright, Lindsey and Jennings, becoming the first to join a major law firm. He has also worked with Bill Clinton on the Arkansas Worker's Compensation Commission.

Griffen has several published writings. He is an ordained Baptist minister and has served as pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock since 1988. He is married to Dr. Patricia L. Griffen, a clinical psychologist. They have two sons.

Along with a mouth-watering dinner, you will be entertained by various performers, soloists and a variety of other entertainment.

Tickets sold at the door are limited, so get yours early. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students. They may be purchased from any board member.
