Six Draw Opposition In May 23 Primary

Six races in Clark County will be contested in the May 23 Preferential Party Primary.

The fun begins with the county judge's race. Incumbent Floyd "Buddy" Manning is being challenged by the man he beat for the office, Grady Runyan. Both are seeking the post as Democrats.

The next contested race is for county assessor. Incumbent Wanda H. Knight is being challenged by Kasey Summerville.

The Caddo Township Constable race has four hopefuls. Incumbent Frank Plasek heads the list, but is being challenged by Benny Arnold, James H. Davis and Gerald O'Connell.

Otherwise, the contested races are for justice of the peace positions.

In district 7, incumbent John Howard faces Bobby Pritchard.

Larry Thomerson, the incumbent in district 10, is being challenged by Democrat Jerry Johnson and Republican Don R. Morehead.

District 8 incumbent Billy C. Kirksey faces a former JP in Orville E. Buck.

No other officials have challengers.

Rhonda L. Williams will remain in office as County Clerk.

Pam King will remain Circuit Clerk and Troy Tucker will stay in office as Sheriff and Collector.

Judy Beth Hutcherson will stay on as County Treasurer, while J. Scott Wyatt will be the County Coroner.

Jonathan Huber will be the JP from district 1, with Jaunita "Dot" Curry the JP in district 2. R.H. "Dick" Batson will stay on in district 3, with Albert Neal to remain the JP in district 4.

Bill Moorman will continue as JP in district 5, with Bill Conine the JP from district 6. Jim Hatley will remain in district 9, while Mike Cox will stay on in district 11.

There are two races in Gurdon, with neither incumbent having an opponent.

Tambra Smith is unchallenged as City Recorder/Treasurer, as is David Childres as City Marshal.
