Judy Smith of Camden, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for Arkansas' Fourth Congressional District, officially filed at 11 a.m. Monday, April 3, at the state Capital Rotunda.

Smith filed on the tenth anniversary of her first filing for public office, when she filed for State Representative to challenge 24-year incumbent Grady Arrington of Stephens.

"I feel blessed to have the opportunity to serve the people of Arkansas for ten years, and I look forward to serving our citizens in the United States Congress," said Smith.

Mayor Bobby Box of Chidester, who is also the pastor of Harrison Chapel Church in Waterloo, said that he believed that it was a blessing from God that Judy Smith was elected as the representative of the people of Waterloo, because Judy's hard work the people of Waterloo are finally getting access to a water system.

Smith has had many successes as a State representative, she said in a prepared press release. She is most proud of the Waterloo project, the Highway 79 South Natural Gas project, passing the strictest anti-stalking law in the country, and that she was one of the few who stood up against the so called Worker's Comp Reform Act of 1993, that has devastated the lives of many Arkansans.

She is also very pleased that she was able to join Rep. Josetta Wilkins in the fight to pass Arkansas' Breast Cancer Act.

During her tenure Smith was also elected deputy majority leader, and named one of the state's ten best legislators.
